Even after beating Mississippi State in the final seconds of the homecoming game, Florida fans seeminly are still celebrating, and it's not because of the win. The Gators finally came to the conclusion that Billy Napier just isn't going to get this program where it wants to be and decided to fire the fourth-year head coach.

This has been a long-time coming and it seems not only are current fans happy about this decision, but also former players. Former defensive lineman Adam Shuler took to social media to go after not just Napier, but the players in the program who came in under Napier.

Shuler went so far as to say that Napier and the players were simply just happy to be at the University of Florida, seeming to hint that they didn't have what it took to actually wear the name across their chest.

The former defensive lineman may have had success in his time with the Gators when he played under former head coach Dan Mullens in 2018 and 2019, but still, he played in a different era of college football.

This is not to necessarily back Napier, but he is trying to coach in an era where a player can with a program fro one season and then gone the next with practically no reprecussions. Napier certainly didn't always do things the right way, but he at least was able to begin to show he had a good team at points in the season.

Also, these players int he program now didn't have to choose the Gators, a lot of them chose Florida over other highly ranked programs, but they wanted to do something special in Gainesville. Napier certainly wasn't the greatest coach Florida ever had, but he still was working with some great players that deserve the recognition.
