Easton Royal may be committed to Texas, but he hasn't exactly closed the door on his recruitment either.

A day after the Gators found out they’re in the top six of Andrew’s Beard, the No. 6 running back in the nation’s 2027 recruitment, they got some more positive recruitment news they didn’t expect. Easton Royal, the No. 1-ranked wide receiver in the nation, who is currently committed to Texas, told Corey Bender of On3 and Tyler Harden of Swamp 247 that he has booked his trip to Gainesville for two separate trips. He will take an unofficial visit to the Swamp in March, followed by an official visit this summer.

Royal, 5’11”, 190lbs is coming off of an outstanding junior year for Brother Martin out of New Orleans, LA. Per Fanstake, The wide receiver had 54 receptions for 1,374 yards, and 19 touchdowns. He averaged 24.1 yards per carry. That was picking right back up from where he left off in 2024 as during his sophomore year he combined for 1,151 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Easton Royal to take visits to Florida

The All-State Sugar Bowl named Royal their September 2025 Athlete of the Month. In September alone, he had 27 receptions, 622 yards, and 10 touchdowns (eight receiving, two rushing). That included 155.5 yards per game and 23.0 yards per reception. His best game during that stretch came on September 12 when he brought in nine receptions for 254 yards and three touchdowns. Those touchdown carries were for 11 yards, 73 yards, and 81 yards as Brother Martin defeated a very good St. Paul team 37-27. In that game, he also had the opportunity to throw the football, in which he took advantage and threw for a six-yard touchdown pass as well.

Royal was also named the 2026 Under Armour All-America game MVP that included a diving touchdown catch

The No.1 wide receiver in the nation according to On3 is also ranked No. 12 nationally by the 247 Sports composite, the No. 3 wide receiver, and the No. 1 player out of Louisiana.

ESPN.com has him rated as the No. 4 wide receiver, No. 8 recruit regionally, and the No. 2 prospect in the state. He is ranked 17th on their list of Jr. 300.

When Royal visits the Swamp this spring and in the summer, they will look to convince the wide receiver to decommit from Texas and flip his commitment to the Gators. Though he has locked in his commitment to Texas, with two trips to the Swamp still in play, there’s time for Trautwein and Sumrall to leave their marks.

Outside of Texas’ offer to the junior, he also has offers on the table from Arkansas, Tennessee, LSU, Ohio State, Auburn, Baylor, Boston College, Colorado, Florida State, Georgia, Houston, Maryland, Miami, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt, Washington, Wisonsin, Notre Dame, Troy, and Tulane.
