After another week of Lane Kiffin ducking whether or not he is going to be the next coach for the Florida Gators or whether he is going to stay at Ole Miss, the Gators are going to take on Ole Miss in an actual game of football today.

The line for this game has been rapidly dropping, but has it dropped enough to give Gator fans a reason to believe Florida can actually win the game in Oxford?

We have written plenty this week on the backdrop of this game and how the real focus isn't whether Ole Miss can beat Florida, but whether Ole Miss can retain its coach.

The wild thing is that had this game been last week, coming off a close loss to Georgia, most Gator fans would have felt confident that Florida could beat Ole Miss straight up.

But the debacle against Kentucky raised serious questions about the state of this squad and its mindset heading into the final three games to close out the 2025 campaign.

At the core concern for every Florida fan is DJ Lagway, who played so poorly against Kentucky that he had to be yankedfor Tramell Jones. The other issue for this offense is that they have virtually run out of wide receivers, with Eugene Wilson and Dallas Wilson out.

But if one wants to look for a pathway where Florida might be able to get things going, Ole Miss is only 85th in the country in opponent yards per rush attempt. And if Jadan Baugh starts picking up chunk yards, it shortens the game and limits the possessions for Ole Miss to get things going.

Throw in that last week's meltdown by the Florida defense felt like an aberration rather than an absolute, and one can squint to convince themselves Florida has a shot.

Then, if we add in that Ole Miss fans are absolutely going to be on pins and needles if this thing is at all close, and it's not the craziest thing in the world to envision a pathway where Florida pulls this thing off.

Will they?

Probably not.

But just remember that last year, right before Florida pulled off back-to-back upsets against LSU and Ole Miss, they were shredded by Texas the week before.

Will history repeat itself?

Well...
