Florida is slated to take on Oklahoma in a game where it feels like the season is on the line for both teams. The Gators still have a realistic pathway to 9-3, while Oklahoma is trying to salvage what it can from 2026 after making the playoffs in 2025.
Both teams are coming off a loss last week. Florida lost to Georgia while Oklahoma lost to South Carolina.

Florida vs. Oklahoma: Key storylines
1. Can Tramell Jones Jr. give Florida’s offense a spark?
Jones has been the reported starter for this game, and the question mark will be whether or not he can spark a Florida offense that has been stuck in neutral. We saw in the Georgia game his potential to create some plays on his own, but he is still prone to some back-breaking turnovers like the one he had on the goal line.
2. Can Florida create room for Jadan Baugh?
Baugh enters with 801 rushing yards, but Oklahoma has allowed only one opposing player to reach 100 rushing yards this season. Baugh has been held in check three of the last four games in large part because teams have dared Florida to beat them over the top and have sold out on the run. But a reliance on outside stretch runs that teams have been sitting on hasn’t helped matters.
3. What changes with Jason Witten calling Oklahoma’s plays?
Brent Venables fired offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle on Monday and handed play-calling duties to Witten. We’ll see if it helps spark Oklahoma’s anemic offense this season.
Offensive players to watch in Florida vs. Oklahoma
Florida Gators
- Tramell Jones Jr., QB: Sumrall made his call to go to Jones, and we’ll see if he can recreate the magic he had against Texas.
- Jadan Baugh, RB:Â If he can get going, Florida should put up 24+ points, which could be enough against Oklahoma.
- Dallas Wilson, WR: Florida’s receiving leader enters with 417 yards, but with VB3 probably missing again, he needs to live up to his five-star billing.
Oklahoma Sooners
- John Mateer, QB:Â Enters with 1,835 passing yards, 13 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. There has been talk about replacing him, but for now he stays the starter.
- Isaiah Sategna III, WR:Â Leads Oklahoma with 45 catches for 591 yards and three touchdowns.
- Rocky Beers, TE:Â Has 34 receptions for 446 yards and four touchdowns.
Defensive players to watch in Florida vs. Oklahoma
Florida Gators
- LJ McCray, DL:Â After a big game against Texas, McCray was invisible against Georgia and played just 14 snaps. Is he getting another chance or is he getting rotated out for good?
- Myles Graham, LB:Â With Jadan Robinson out, Graham needs to find his 2025 form to keep Oklahoma at bay.
Oklahoma Sooners
- Owen Heinecke, LB:Â Leads the Sooners with 64 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss.
- Kip Lewis, LB:Â Returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown against South Carolina.Â
