It has been 253 days since the Florida Gators last spotted the ball and took on a team wearing opposing colors. Gameday is here indeed and Florida is set to take on FCS foe Long Island University for the first time in school history.

This game should be an easy one for Florida, but just how easy of a night should it be in The Swamp?

There is no getting around that LIU might be one of the most overmatched opponents to have marched into The Swamp in quite some time. We're not talking about some plucky FCS school that should make things interesting; we're talking about a program that has 16 total wins since moving to the FCS level in 2019.

LIU QB Ethan Greenwood has enough athleticism to make a first down or two, but there is simply too much size and speed along the defensive line for the Gators to give Greenwood any time, and Florida's linebackers should be able to clean up any scrambling Greenwood wants to do.

The real question is going to be how hard on the gas Florida presses on offense. DJ Lagway is going to start, but how long he stays in will be a mystery, given that Florida wants to save him as much as they can and wants to give work to their other three QBs.

Given the nature of Billy Napier, we'll probably see some deep shots here and there, but we would imagine most of Florida's offense is going to come on the ground. The Gators may not have true home run hitters in the backfield, but they should be able to gash LIU for 10+ yards at a time with little resistance.

45.5 is obviously a massive number and is asking Florida to win by seven touchdowns.

But if the Gators are who they claim to be in 2025, they cover this spread. Even with a conservative plan, Florida has too much speed on offense for a team like LIU to contain, and if the operation is at all clean, this should get out of hand in a hurry.
