Florida has officially made another “Final Four.” Though this one has nothing to do with basketball, it’s good news for the Gators as, per Hayes Fawcett, they have officially been listed in the final four of Class of 2027 linebacker Drew Williams’ recruitment. Joining Florida on the list are Oregon, Miami, and Kentucky.
The junior from Sequoyah High School in Canton, GA has played two varsity seasons for the Chiefs, his sophomore year two years ago and last season as a junior.
Last season alone, the tall 6’2”, 195-lb. recorded an impressive 135 tackles, including 87 solo tackles and 48 assists. He averaged 10.4 per game and had 13 tackles for loss on the season. Through 13 games, the junior racked up five sacks and caused 20 hurries by opposing quarterbacks.
Over the course of his two varsity seasons, he recorded 190 total tackles through 22 games played. That included 131 solo, with 59 assisted, averaging 8.6 per game and recording 18 tackles for loss through his sophomore and junior seasons. Through 22 total varsity games, he recorded eight sacks, .4 per game, with 22 quarterback hurries.
In addition, Williams recorded one interception, four blocked passes, and had one fumble recovery.
Florida in final group for Drew Williams
Williams, the No. 8 LB in Georgia according to Rivals has official visits locked in to all three of his final schools. It will come down to OV’s to determine where he ends up landing.
The three star LB is also listed as the No. 112 LB in the class of 2027 by Rivals and the No. 126 recruit in the state.
247 Sports has Williams ranked as their No. 605 National prospect, the No. 50 LB, and the No. 72 prospect in Georgia.
Earlier this month, Jon Sumrall made an impression on Williams and said that through FaceTime he was “really pushing” for the junior to take an official visit to Florida, and now they are a finalist to land the three-star LB.
