Florida secures Jordy Lowery as part of the secondary overhaul for the Gators

Jordy Lowery isn't the biggest, but he's fast and quick to find the football.

The Florida Gators secured another big player on Wednesday landing the speedy cornerback Jordy Lowery out of East Carolina University, per On3 Sports and Pete Nakos.

Lowery may not be the biggest player on the field, but great things sometimes come in smaller packages and this is one of those moments. Lowery sits at just 5’11”, 189lb, but over the course of his two-year career has totaled 27 tackles (23 solo), with four assists, and has 13 pass breakups, six interceptions, and a defensive touchdown.

Last season at ECU he had 27 tackles (four assists), one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He was named to the second-team preseason All-AAC by Phil Steele Magaine and the third-team preseason All-AAC by Athlon Sports.

Prior to transferring to ECU, the junior communication major played three seasons at Western Carolina (redshirted one year). In 2024 with Western Carolina he recorded 48 tackles (31 solo), with 2 ½ tackles for loss (-7 yards) and averaged at least one tackle per game, with multiple games having multiple tackles in them.

He showed off his quick hands and speed in 2024 as well, with six picks for 133 yards and a defensive touchdown. He had eight pass breakups, which ranked eighth in the league and he ranked second nationally with a 0.5 interception per game average. He also had three tackles for loss and registered five PBUs.

Along with playing defense, Lowery also recorded one season on special teams (2023). He played in all 11 games that season and recorded three special teams tackles.

Lowery has two years of eligibility remaining and will bring now bring his talents back home to the sunshine state. The Bartow native will now have the opportunity to play closer to home by being in Gainesville.

Lowery entered the portal earlier in the month and was quickly chomped at by the Gators and now he becomes one joining Jon Sumrall’s stacked recruitment class ahead of the 2026 season.
