In sports, to the victor go the spoils, and after the Florida Gators beat Texas 29-21, it was understandable if Florida coaches and players wanted to ride the wave, especially considering there haven't been many waves to ride in the Billy Napier Era.
But one tweet in particular from a notable member of Florida's staff didn't quite go over the way as anticipated with Gator fans.
Florida GM Jacob LaFrance's tweet doesn't go over well
After the win, Florida General Manager for Player Personnel Jacob LaFrance took to X to express his thoughts on the win and quote-tweeted a Florida graphic with the caption "Sun Belt Billy and the boys…"
LaFrance would later delete the tweet, but the point still stood.
The reference is to the moniker that opposing fans have given Billy Napier, given that he came from the Sun Belt Conference, though Florida fans wanting Napier out the door have also started to use the nickname themselves.
It's not actually clear who LaFrance was trying to troll back with the post, whether it was opposing fans or Gator fans themselves who have dared to question Billy Napier, but Florida fans were having none of it.
Of the nearly 300 responses to the tweet, Gator fans took it as a direct shot at Florida's fanbase.
And in a lot of ways, this tweet perfectly encapsulates the Billy Napier Era.
Prior to this tweet, the last tweet LaFrance had sent was on September 4. Mind you, this is after LaFrance had spent all offseason trying to hype the Gators up, including one from August 8 with the caption "Still fueled by the pain that never left us last season!"

When Florida got embarrassed by USF, LSU, and Miami, it's amazing how these accounts tend to stay quiet, but the instant something good happens, they want to act like anyone who has dared to say something negative about Napier was in the wrong.
Beating Texas was a good win, and it's a win that should have been a hurdle cleared to instill hope of a deep playoff run in 2025.
But it's because Sun Belt Billy started the season 1-3 that puts the Gators in a spot of needing to run the table just to have a prayer at being considered for the playoffs, and leaves Gator fans saying "Nice win on Saturday but..."
Because this is not the first time Napier has upset someone as a home underdog (2022 Utah, 2023, Tennessee, 2024 LSU and Ole Miss, and now 2025 Texas), it's the follow-up and overall body of work that still has Florida at 21-22 in the Billy Napier Era.
