Less than a week into the transfer portal being open, the Florida Gators have already signed more players than they did all of last offseason. As it stands, Jon Sumrall and crew have signed 10 players out of the portal, but will have plenty more to go as the Gators had 31 players leave to the portal this offseason.
These are the 14 players who have committed to Florida at this point in time:
Eagan Boyer (OT) — Penn State
Alec Clark (P) — Tulane
DJ Coleman (DB) — Baylor
Lacota Dippree (TE) — James Madison
Cam Dooley (S) — Kentucky
Patrick Durkin (K) — Tulane
Emmanuel Oyebdejo (DL) — Jacksonville State
DK Kalu (DL) — Baylor
Micah Mays Jr. (WR) — Georgia Tech
Elijah Owens (S) — Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
Aaron Philo (QB) — Georgia Tech
Evan Pryor (RB) — Cincinnati
TJ Shanahan Jr. (OL) — Penn State
Bailey Stockton (WR) — Georgia Tech
The first thing that jumps out is that of the ten players signed, seven of them come from the Power Four level, and two of the three from the Group of Six are specialists (Patrick Durkin and Alec Clark), while the third (Lacota Dippree) was just in the playoffs with James Madison.
None of these would be considered a splash signing on the surface. QB Aaron Philo is the only player our sister site Saturday Blitz ranked within the top ten of their respective position group.
But RB Evan Pryor can be a great complementary back for Jadan Baugh, who announced on Tuesday he would be returning for 2026. Guard TJ Shanhan Jr. took over 400 snaps with Penn State last season, while DB DJ Coleman was a capable coverage safety for Baylor.
The biggest area Florida needs to continue to address is at cornerback, tackle, and defensive line. With the Gators getting Jayden Woods back, Florida might not be as desperate to get extra body or two at EDGE, and the loss of Michai Boireau creates a need along the interior of the line.
Florida tried to get a visit from top-rated cornerback Jontez Williams, but he committed to Southern Cal before that visit happened. With Austin Barber graduating from left tackle and the Gators not having a great returner at right tackle, the tackle spot is one of the great unknowns on the roster right now.
