Florida’s spring game is a little more than a week away, and it will be the first real chance most Gator fans get to see the 2026 Florida Gators in action. Florida had a scrimmage last Saturday and has another one planned prior to the spring game, but those have been behind closed doors.
And given all the new pieces on the roster this season and all the shuffling around, there is still plenty of wiggle room in the depth chart. With that in mind, these are some of the players on the offensive side of the ball who could really help their stock with a big showing in the spring game.
Florida offensive players who need a big spring game
All the QBs
This is probably cheating and 100% cliche, but if Jon Sumrall is to be believed that there is no separation in the QB competition, then Tramell Jones and Aaron Philo are probably the two Gators most in need of a big day next Saturday.
Does a single spring game make or break either of these two? Probably not if things are genuinely close. But fans, being fans, are going to start to have real opinions on both once they are no longer behind closed doors.
But also don’t sleep on freshman Will Griffin, who continues to draw rave reviews from everyone and seems to be lurking in the shadows to maybe sneak into a higher spot on the depth chart. Keep in mind, this time last year, Jones was nowhere near winning the backup job.
Duke Clark
We know Jon Sumrall wants to give Jadan Baugh the ball a ton this season, and he claims Baugh probably won’t get as many touches during the spring game. This leaves the door open in the spring game for someone to step up and take the RB2 job.
Duke Clark was a speedster in high school who clocked a 10.77 100-meter dash time. His only real action last year was getting nine carries against Texas for 38 yards. With Evan Pryor transferring in from Cincinnati, who is also noted for his speed, Clark is going to want to keep the positive momentum he seems to have with Sumrall this spring.
Amir Jackson
Amir Jackson had entered the transfer portal only to be convinced to stay in Gainesville. The thing is, with Buster Faulkner running the offense, there are not going to be as many snaps to go around for the tight ends in 2026.
And with transfers Luke Harping and Lacota Dippre also in the mix, Jackson has to prove his decision to stay was the correct one.
Micha Mays Jr.
When healthy, the assumption is that Florida’s wide receiver group will be Vernell Brown III, Dallas Wilson, and Eric Singleton Jr. But given that Wilson has been hurt for a good chunk of the spring, Micha Mays Jr. has been able to step up and get his reps.
Mays Jr. was a transfer from Wake Forest, and most fans didn’t think much of him when he came to Gainesville. Sumrall, however, has had plenty of positive things to say about him.
And if Mays Jr. can pop off in the spring game and officially introduce himself to the fans, it could go a long way in getting into the rotation in 2026.
Everyone on the offensive line
Much like with the QBs, there is no telling what the offensive line is going to look like once the season begins. Florida is essentially having to replace the entire line from 2025.
Swamp247 reported last week that Eagan Boyer, Knijeah Harris, Harrison Moore, Bryce Lovett, and Caden Jones made up the starters during last week’s scrimmage. Boyer transferred in from Penn State, Moore came from Georgia Tech, while Harris, Lovett, and Jones all return from last year. Harris was the only regular starter for Florida last year.
But given the rumblings that the offensive line has been struggling, it feels like none of these guys are surefire bets to start in 2026.
