Florida’s recruiting class of 2028 is starting to take shape. On paper, we are still a few months out from seeing a huge surge of commits, but it is clear, coming out of Florida’s win over Ole Miss that the Gators have a ton of momentum in their favor.

One prospect who was in The Swamp on Saturday apparently came away very impressed, and the Gators appear to have the inside track to land him.

Gators get a crystal ball prediction for Bubba Brown

Ar’Tavian “Bubba” Brown is a wide receiver out of Tallahassee. He transferred back home to the Florida State University School this year after previously playing for Lowndes High in Valdosta, GA. Listed at 6’2” and 190 pounds, he is a consensus four-star across the board, with ESPN ranking him the highest at No. 105 overall in the class of 2028.

On film, Brown moves well for someone who is 6’2”. He has the capability to go up over an opposing DB to get a catch, but he has some genuine shiftiness when catching passes behind the line of scrimmage, and he has the capability to take a screen and turn it into a touchdown. His available public film is a bit limited to get a read on his full route-running capabilities, but we can see why his overall athleticism would intrigue Jon Sumrall and crew. Brown also plays basketball and averaged 13.6 points per game last year.

Brown was first offered by the Gators back in March. FSU has been among the most notable suitors for Brown, which makes sense given his proximity to campus, but he has also taken unofficial visits this season to Auburn and Alabama.

It appears this past weekend made quite an impression on Brown, as 247’s Tyler Harden and Zach Blostein predicted earlier in the week that Brown would commit to Florida, and now Chad Simmons of Rivals is joining them and has also predicted that Brown will put on a Gator hat.

As it stands, Florida has three players as part of its class of 2028. But based on the buzz coming out of this past week, we suspect that number is going to shoot up very soon.
