When the Gators retained Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III, it was a massive boon for the wide receiver room. Those two by themselves can create plenty of matchup issues and could be one of the best 1-2 punches in the SEC. Admittedly, and perhaps still nursing the scars of the Billy Napier Era, we here at Hail Florida Hail didn’t anticipate the Gators signing any big-name wide receivers out of the transfer portal because so much money had already been locked into Wilson and Brown III.
But this weekend, the Gators proved they aren’t content with just two great wide receivers, and they landed the commitment of Auburn wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr. from the transfer portal.
Florida lands Eric Singleton Jr.
A lot of people thought Singleton Jr. was off to the NFL, so he wasn’t even on the radar of most fans or pundits as a possibility out of the transfer portal. But on Friday, he entered the portal, and right away he was linked to the Gators. On Saturday, it was reported that Singleton Jr. had signed with the Gators.

Singleton Jr. had back-to-back seasons of 700+ receiving yards at Georgia Tech while playing for now Florida OC Buster Faulkner. He transferred to Auburn for 2025, and while his numbers dipped, in part because of the anemic Tigers offense as a whole, he still racked up 534 yards on 58 catches in 2025.
Perhaps most encouraging is that in 2023 and 2024, Singleton Jr. was top 100 in the country in yards per route run, which accounts for total receiving yards relative to the number of passing plays on the field. Both of those years, he lined up out wide, whereas he was in the slot in 2025.
In theory, Singleton Jr. would line up out wide at Florida, while Brown III would be in the slot.
Either way, the Gators have three bona fide wide receivers, all capable of going over 700 yards in 2026. Faulkner is going to need to figure out how to spread the ball to all three while also letting Jadan Baugh pound the rock.
It's a good problem to have for 2026.
