After winning the national title last month and heading their separate ways, whether it be to the NBA Draft or to the transfer portal, the Florida Gators had one last celebration to take part in on Wednesday in Washington D.C.
The Gators were invited to the White House to be honored for their March Madness run, and virtually everyone who was a part of the squad was in attendance.
Florida Gators take over D.C.
Outside of Urban Klavzar and Kajus Kublickas, who were both outside of the country and couldn't make the trip, everyone else from the squad made the trip to the White House to take part in the festivities.
That includes now transfers Sam Alexis and Denzel Aberdeen.
There were some lighthearted moments along the way as Florida created a couple of TikToks to celebrate and was greeted at the White House with a strings rendition of Won't Back Down.
Perhaps the most humorous moment was when President Trump met 7'9" viral sensation Olivier Rioux.
There were also the standard speeches, and Florida and Golden gifted President Trump with a signed basketball and a custom No. 47 jersey with Trump on the back.
Other notable people in attendance included Tim Tebow, who met up with Walter Clayton Jr.
Aberdeen stirs debate with appearance
There was plenty of online chatter regarding the inclusion of Denzel Aberdeen on this trip. The guard has since transferred to Kentucky and his dad didn't have glowing things to say on his way out the door.
Notably, people took aim at a group photo that had everyone doing the Gator Chomp while Aberdeen was in the back of the photo and appeared not to do the Chomp.
As frustrating as the transfer portal is in the modern era, Aberdeen earned the right to be on the trip. Revisionist history might try to downplay his role on the team, but he was on the court in the final minute of the national title game, taking free throws to try and clinch the title.
Were some of the mannerisms on this trip weird? Sure, but that doesn't mean he should have been excluded altogether.
