The Florida Gators just got even more dangerous as the running back room added another weapon. East Carolina University transfer sophomore, London Montgomery has committed to Jon Sumrall and the Florida Gators. He took to X to announce his commitment on Thursday. Montgomery visited the University of Florida earlier this week and clearly liked what he saw with his Thursday commitment.

It's been a big week for the Gators. In less than one week, Florida went from having a big hole with a big question mark at running back to having arguably one of, if not the most dangerous running back group in the SEC.

Florida adds running back London Montgomery

Montgomery in 2025 rushed for 742 yards on 156 carries with seven touchdowns for the Pirates. In the air, the sophomore had 76 receiving yards on 15 receptions. His 156 carries ranked tied for 78th in the NCAA. He had a 77.7 PFF run grade and did not have any fumbles in 2025, showing his ability to protect the football when it’s in his hands.

Last season he also earned a place on the ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll.

Over the course of his two year career at East Carolina, the 5’11, 197lb running back has appeared in 23 games for the Pirates. He has a career 1,101 rushing yards with nine touchdowns. His longest run came this past season vs Tulsa when he had a 51 yard run.

On the pass plays Montgomery has 105 receiving yards on 20 receptions.

But the communication major from Scranton, Pennsylvania is known for speed and the explosiveness of his run game.

Prior to going to East Carolina he signed as a four-star running back to Penn State.

Between Jadan Baugh, Evan Pryor, and now Montgomery, this Gator front line has a combined 2,434 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns becoming a powerhouse on the front line.
