Whenever Tennessee suffers a loss in football, it's usually a win for the Gators, but unfortunately, conference expansion will keep the football team from capitalizing on the Vols' latest misfortunes immediately.
Ugly orange got the bad news that Joey Aguilar's request to play another season in college football was denied. Aguilar spent four seasons in community college between two places and another three in FBS football, so I'm not exactly sure what the basis was for him asking for an eighth season in college sports, but it's not close to the strangest thing that's happened with NCAA eligibility cases over the past few years.

There's plenty of reason to cheer whenever Tennessee football is weakened, it's good for the soul. But the downside is that Jon Sumrall will have to wait until 2027 to rub Josh Heupel's face in the dirt over this.
Judge rules Joey Aguilar must go out and find a job
Due to the fact that Tennessee was not named one of Florida's primary three opponents, the Volunteers are not on the schedule in 2026 (Georgia, South Carolina and Kentucky made the cut). This is a tough pill for Gator fans to swallow, especially after the Vols got to take advantage of a Gators team that was without a coach this past season. There would be nothing sweeter than Sumrall walking into Neyland Stadium and establishing it as his home away from home, much like Steve Spurrier did.
As for what Tennessee will do at quarterback next season? Who knows.... What is Brent Schaeffer doing these days? Maybe he can file for another year of eligibility. But forget that, it's a problem for Josh Heupel. The bigger issue is, after 36 consecutive Florida-Tennessee games, in which the Gators won 26 of them, fans won't get to enjoy the thrill of beating ugly orange in 2026.
And that's a loss for everyone.
