The availability report is out for Florida and Georgia, and the Gators have six players listed on the report. No one for Florida is formally listed as out, but there are a couple of players who are doubtful to play this Saturday.
These are our three most notable observations from the availability report.
Three observations looking at the availability report for Florida-Georiga
Are both QBs listed as questionable gamesmanship?
Both Aaron Philo and Tramell Jones are listed as “Questionable” on the report. Philo missed the game against Texas after a shoulder injury he suffered against South Carolina. Jones got the start and finished out the game against Texas with no obvious issues, but Jon Sumrall said on Monday that Jones was dealing with “bumbs and bruises.”
Given that Florida is trying not to tip their hand on who will be the starting QB against Georgia, listing both QBs as questionable feels like a way to extend the timeline before having to announce a decision.
Vernell Brown III should reignite the offense
There is an argument to be made that for as valuable as Jadan Baugh is to Florida, Vernell Brown III is actually the most important player on the roster. VB3 has missed the past three games and Missouri and South Carolina just loaded up in the box and dared Florida to beat them over the top.
Without the threat of Brown, the Gators had zero vertical component to their game.
Sumrall said Brown practiced this week and looked good. He is listed as “Probable” for Satuday.
Two former commits show up on Georgia’s report
It’s worth noting that two former Florida commits show up on the Georgia side of the report. Amaris Williams first committed to Florida back in the summer of 2023, but as the 2023 season finished with a five-game losing streak, he joined a wave of Gators who decommitted and wound up at Auburn. He transferred to Georgia this offseason but suffered a knee injury during spring camp. He is listed as “Out.”
Running back Chauncey Bowens committed to Florida back in September of 2022. Ironically, he decommitted in June of 2023, which was when Florida had a wave of high profile commits. It worked out for both parties, as Jadan Baugh wound up being part of the same class. A foot injury kept Bowens out of the last two games, and he is listed as “Questionable.”
