Now that Billy Napier is officially gone, the Florida Gators are having to put out a thousand miniature fires instead of a raging wildfire.
From covering the head coaching job for the rest of the season to maintaining the recruiting classes Napier had already brought in before he was removed from the program, the Gators are nowhere near done with cleaning up the mess that currently exists in Gainesville.
As the Gators hold onto their recruits with every ounce of energy they have left, one prospect is working at the same goal right alongside them.
Four-star quarterback Will Griffin committed to Florida over a year ago, and since the program fired Napier, he has been doing everything he can to keep his class of fellow prospects together.
"My biggest thing is keeping the committed class committed," Griffin, who is the longest Florida commit in class, said about the group.
Nobody in #Florida’s 2026 class has been committed longer than Will Griffin.

He’s been a leader of the class, and he’s used that role to try and keep the Gators’ 2026 class together.

As for himself, Griffin kept his affirmations for Florida short but solid: "I'm committed, I'm not going anywhere, I'm locked in," Griffin said. "I'm locked in. I'm a Gator."
Griffin isn't the only Florida commit who has reaffirmed he wants to play for the program still, even with Napier no longer holding the reins.
“I’m shocked, but a lot of people saw it coming,” C.J. Bronaugh, a four-star cornerback, said, “but I’m still a Gator at the end of the day.”
Numerous prospects have taken to social media to thank Napier for his commitment to their recruitment process, while confirming that they would play for Florida once they left high school. Many recruits have used their social accounts to reshare recruitment photos and more.
“I’m committed to a program, not a coach or specific person,” said four-star defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy.
Currently, Florida's class of 2026 ranks 13th in the nation and sixth in the SEC. It is a group of 19 recruits, including 14 four-star prospects and five three-star prospects. Before he was fired, Napier received one commitment from the class of 2027: four-star athlete Tramond Collins.
