Last year's season opener for the Florida Gators couldn't have gone more poorly if they tried. After an offseason of claiming how things would be different, the Gators faceplanted against Miami.
Something, something 41-17.
With the two squads set to face off again in 2025, social media barbs are starting to emerge between the two squads.
Miami guard throws shade at Florida's Tyreak Sapp
The social media account @Gatorsszn picked up on a post about Tryeak Sapp with the caption "I'd hate to be the lineman guarding Tyreak Sapp..."
Enter Miami guard Anez Cooper, who chimed in with "It's not hard at all."
Miami Offensive Lineman Anez Cooper commented on a post that “It’s not hard at all” to block Florida DL Tyreak Sapp…

Cooper is, of course, alluding to the fact that Cam Ward shredded the Gators last season. What he is ignoring is that Sapp is one of the few Gators who actually had a good day against Miami last year.
We even noted Sapp after that debacle in a piece called "Five players for Florida Football who weren't the problem against Miami," saying:
"While Justus Boone had an afternoon to forget, Tyreak Sapp was disruptive with the 21 snaps he got on Saturday afternoon.
Sapp had two hurries, two tackles, one assist, and one sack in his 21 snaps and should see an uptick in snaps moving forward."
What's ironic about Cooper specifically is that he comes across as the member of the group project who didn't actually do anything but still wants to take credit for it.
Cooper played right guard that afternoon, and on the ten rushing attempts Miami had to the right side, the Hurricanes had a grand total of 26 yards, and an average of 2.6 yards per run.
Cooper also gave up a QB hurry that day and is fortunate that Cam Ward knows how to scramble.
But this is why winning and losing matter, especially in college football. Miami fans have been able to chirp 41-17 at length because in the end they won 41-17.
And if the Florida defensive line takes exception to what Cooper said, they will be given the opportunity to atone for last season during week four at the Miami Rent-A-Center, also known as Hard Rock Stadium.
