Florida has built itself a cache of top-rated offensive linemen for Jon Sumrall’s initial recruiting class. The work that new offensive line coach Phil Trautwein has been doing highlights why he is among Florida’s top-paid assistants on staff.
Given that the Gators already have three top 150 overall offensive linemen committed, that would be enough to celebrate for a lot of programs around the country. But Florida doesn’t seem to be done getting offensive linemen and appears to be one step closer to landing yet another one.
Florida is close to landing Kennedee Jackson
Kennedee Jackson is an offensive tackle out of Georgia. Listed at 6’5” and 301 pounds, he is a consensus four-star with Rivals ranking him the highest at No. 100 overall.
On film, there is no mistaking Jackson’s size, and there is no mistaking his power. Jackson can flatten guys to the ground without much effort, and his natural frame is so imposing that he really doesn’t need to move much to be in the way of someone. He doubles as a defensive lineman on film, and it’s there he showcases that for someone who is 300+ pounds that he has some mobility to him.
Jackson was in Gainesville this past weekend for his official visit, and it looks like the Gators are one step closer to grabbing him. Gators Online has logged a prediction that the Gators are going to land Jackson. If he does land with Florida, it feels like a massive shot across the bow at Georgia, as Jackson lives just 75 minutes from Athens and is supposed to take an official visit with the Bulldogs in the coming weeks.
As it stands right now, Florida has 17 commits for its class of 2027 after it picked up the commitment of LB Ja’Bois Smith over the weekend. In the 247 Composite rankings, the Gators are sitting at No. 5 in the country. Florida already has committed Maxwell Hiller, Elijah Hutcheson, and Peyton Miller as fellow top 150 overall offensive linemen.
