“Every time I step onto the field, I’m going to give my whole heart regardless of the score…” Those were the words of arguably the greatest quarterback to go through the NCAA, Tim Tebow. And giving his whole heart is exactly what Tebow did during his time at the University of Florida, and now he is being honored again.
Bleacher Report on Saturday afternoon revealed their top 25 greatest college football players since 2000, and the Gator legend, Tim Tebow, sits atop the list. The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner was ranked No. 1 as the greatest college football player of the past century in Bleacher Report’s rankings.

Along with winning the Heisman Trophy in 2007 (and being the only sophomore to ever win the award), Tebow was a three-time AP All-American, a two-time Maxwell Award winner (2007, 2008), 2007 O’Brien Award winner, 2007 AP College Football Player of the Year, and the 2008 Manning Award winner.
The Jacksonville native and now SEC National co-host helped lead Urban Meyer and the Florida Gators to an emotional 2008 National Championship. They defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 24-14 to claim UF’s third national title, and it was Tebow who earned the title of National Championship MVP as well. In that game, he threw for 231 yards, rushed for 109, and threw for two touchdowns.
Tebow spent all four seasons at the University of Florida, collecting record stats throughout the course of his career. From 2006-2009, he rushed for a total 2,947 yards, recorded 57 rushing touchdowns, threw for 9,285 yards, and threw for 88 touchdowns.
Tebow became the first player in NCAA history to rush for and pass for at least 20 touchdowns in a season, doing so in 2007, 2008, and 2009. He was the first sophomore in UF history to be named an All-American, along with the first UF quarterback since 2001 to earn the honors (2007). He was a Heisman Trophy finalist three times (winning in 2007), and was a two-time SEC offensive Player of the Year (2007 and 2009).
On April 16, 2009, the University of Florida inducted the quarterback into the Gator Hall of Fame, and he was also awarded the 2009 Allstate Sugar Bowl Most Outstanding Player award, along with SEC Offensive Player of the Year and the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year, among many other accolades.
Tebow is one of the most decorated collegiate football players to ever play the game. Though his career in the NFL and MLB did not pan out, Tebow has continued to make a huge impact on the University of Florida community, along with North Florida as a whole and you can bet SEC Nation will always attract a huge crowd, especially when the crew makes a visit to Gainesville or heads to Jacksonville for the annual Florida vs Georgia matchup at Everbank Stadium.
