One of the backdrops from the Lane Kiffin saga last year, and one of the main reasons why Florida fans were hopeful he would land in Gainesville, was the backstory of his family. Kiffin had a son with Layla Kiffin, Knox. She is the daughter of former Florida Gators QB John Reaves and is a Florida grad herself, and even though Layla and Lane are divorced, the two are still amicable as Knox has followed his father around.
We know what happened instead.
But Knox Kiffin is a notable QB prospect from the class of 2028, and he was on campus this weekend as part of Florida’s Friday Night Lights event. The question is whether or not Knox Kiffin is going to wind up being part of a wild role reversal as the QB of the future for the Gators.

Kiffin is a QB listed at 6’2” and 177 pounds. Both Rivals and 247 have him listed as a mid-tier three-star prospect for the class of 2028.
Keeping in mind that he was a high school sophomore last year, there is a lot to like on film where Kiffin isn’t just a token prospect because of his namesake. He can sling it and has a wide range of throws at his disposal, and he legit hits the type of intermediate throws that plagued DJ Lagway last year. He has a bit of that Patrick Mahomes improv style to him with his arm angles, and he also has some notable scramble ability. And considering that he is still somewhat raw as a QB prospect, his ceiling has the potential to be higher than most.
But the knock on Kiffin is size and consistency. He had a completion rate of 58% last year, which typically needs to be higher for a four-star prospect, and at 177 pounds, he definitely has more he will need to add to his frame. He also tends to be a bit happy feet when in the pocket.
As Kiffin made his appearance at the Friday Night Lights event, he showcased his nimble feet and showed that he is a QB worth keeping an eye on as time progresses. As it stands, Florida has not made Kiffin an offer. His most notable offers to date are Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, and Missouri.

With fellow 2028 QBs Kingston Preyear and Hudson West also in attendance this past weekend, Florida's main attention at the moment seems to be on those two. But as we will keep saying with the class of 2028, it’s still super early, and anything is possible.
