The momentum for Florida’s recruiting class for 2027 took a minor bump in the road when it wasn’t able to land Zayden Gamble over the weekend. It was expected that Gamble would choose Notre Dame and he did.
But not to be deterred, the Gators have their sights set on another four-star safety and appear to be in a great spot to land him when he makes his decision next week.
Kailib Dillard set to make a commitment next week
Kailib Dillard is a safety out of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Listed at 6’2” and 170 pounds, he is a four-star with Rivals while 247 has him as a low-tier three-star. ESPN has him unrated altogether
Based on the film, it seems like 247 and ESPN need to play catch-up and watch his film because Dillard has all the traits that a program could want. He plays both receiver and safety, and to be honest, he could probably make it as a straight-up wide receiver in college. He has enough wiggle and burst to get open, and his catch radius is more than in line with some other high-level receivers we have viewed.
As a safety, he plays with confidence and isn’t afraid to come downhill to make the play. In some ways, he has a better downhill burst than some of the safeties we’ve seen for Florida over the past few years. He’s also not afraid to lay the boom, and his previously mentioned catch radius makes him a bit of a ball hawk.
Dillard has announced his final three with Florida, Georgia, and Oregon all getting a hat at the table. Rivals has logged several predictions that Dillard is going to wind up with Florida when he makes his commitment on May 5.
Florida currently has nine verbal commitments for its class of 2027, none of which are at safety.
