We know Jon Sumrall has an affinity for running backs who can just take over a game by themselves. It’s a massive reason why he made such a huge push to retain Jadan Baugh and prevent him from hitting the transfer portal.
But eventually Baugh will graduate and Sumrall will need his next elite running back, and this weekend the Gators are going to make a push to land one of the top rated ones in the country.
Landen Williams-Callis will be in Gainesville this weekend
Landen Williams-Callis is a running back out of Richmond, Texas, just outside of Houston. Listed at 5’7” and 190 pounds, Williams-Callis is a consensus top 50 player with all three major services, with 247 having him the highest at 34th overall.
Williams-Callis racked up 3,502 yards rushing and 59 touchdowns in 2025. No, that is not a missprint or a typo. He really did put up numbers that even a video game would find unrealistic.
And when one puts on his film, it’s easy to see why no one in Texas had an answer for Williams-Callis. First off, his 2025 film is over 21 minutes long, which is basically unheard of. But Williams-Callis has the elite combination of speed, vision, and strength that makes him impossible to bring down.
If he gets a step on you, he is gone. If you try to get in his way, he makes a subtle juke, and he is gone. If you try to tackle him by yourself and actually get your hands on him, he still sheds you, even though he is 5’7”, he is gone.
He has verified a track speed of 10.60 seconds in the 100-meter dash, but he feels even faster than that.
And considering his cousins are former Oregon State players Jaquizz and James Rodgers, it all makes sense why his game looks a ton like theirs used to.
Williams-Callis will be on campus this weekend as part of a loaded visitor list. Texas A&M is considered the frontrunner.
