As recruiting season rolls on for the Florida Gators, one of the key commits they landed last year was Ben Hanks III at defensive back. The top 50 overall prospect figures to be a key cog for Florida's secondary for the foreseeable future.

Florida is hoping to pair him with another top 50 overall prospect that they appear to be gaining momentum with.

Florida Gators are in the top six for Chauncey Kennon

Chauncey Kennon is a 6'1" and 170-pound two-way player for Booker High in Sarasota. 247 has him as a five-star, On3 and ESPN have him in the top 50 overall, while Rivals has him ranked 236th overall.

Kennon projects to play CB in college even though it he could fit right in as a wide receiver.

On film, he is explosive out the gate. His first step is deadly, and if an opposing wide receiver attempts some type of stop-and-go, rarely can they accelerate faster than Kennon.

What stands out for Kennon is that even though he has the traits of a playmaking wide receiver who does well to avoid contact on defense, he is a wrecking ball at times. He is not afraid to get physical, and in the event he needs to go make a tackle, he is not afraid to lay the boom on someone.

Kennon was in Gainesville earlier this month, and the indications are that he plans to come back on campus in June.

He just announced his top six with FSU, Georgia, Oregon, LSU, and Miami also on the list, and he plans to commit on July 6.

This seems like a recruitment that is truly up in the air, and Florida is definitely in the running as opposed to a token case of being in the top six as a courtesy.

His film lives up to the billing of a top-50 player, and he would be a big addition to Florida.
