Florida Gators Volleyball went on the road and picked up a Power Conference sweep against Ohio State. The Gators won 3-0 over Ohio State 25-23, 25-20, 25-14.
In the first set, Florida fell behind 22-20 before kills from Jordyn Byrd, Aniya Madkin, and Kira Hutson put the Gators ahead. It was tied at 23-23 when Madkin picked up another kill followed by an Ohio State error.
The second set was also tight and was tied at 20-20. Florida made it 21-20 and then Ella Vogel stepped up to the service line and ripped off four straight points to win the set 25-20.
The third set got out of hand quickly and Florida ended on a 6-0 run to win 25-14.
The win moves Florida to 4-1 on the season. They will play UNC next in Chapel Hill.
Soccer falls to Georgia State
Much like when Florida Soccer played UCF, the Gators entered their Sunday night contest against Georgia State with a chance to do something they hadn't done since 2019:
Pull of a three-game winning streak.
And much like against UCF, the Gators fell short in a 2-1 defeat to the Panthers.
After a scoreless first half, the Gators scored first in the 52nd minute, with Madison Jones scoring her first goal of the season.
The lead didn't last as Florida gave up goals in the 61st and 65th minute to lose 2-1 on a night they outshot Georgia State 18-5 and had 14 corner kicks to the two of the Panthers.
Florida is now 4-3-0 on the season and will begin SEC play against Arkansas on Thursday.
Golf finishes 10th in Seattle
The No. 4-ranked men's golf team did not have a great weekend at the Sahalee Players Championship, finishing 10th in the 12-team field.
After a rough 1st round where Florida shot +18 as a team, the Gators had a better 2nd round and shot +1.
However, a +15 in the 3rd round left the Gators at +34 as a team and 31 shots behind 1st place Arizona State.
