The initial availability report is out for Florida’s contest against South Carolina, and for the most part, it’s good news for the Gators. Four players for Florida appear on the list this week:
Vernell Brown III - Questionable
London Montgomery - Questionable
Bryce Thornton - Probable
Dijon Johnson - Probable
Brown is the most notable on the list as he continues to work back from a knee injury that kept him out of the loss against Missouri. Jon Sumrall indicated this week that he is “optimistic” about Brown getting to play this Saturday. Thornton was a late scratch against Missouri while both Johnson and Montgomery took a handful of snaps.
South Carolina has nine total players listed on the report. Probably the most notable is leading wide receiver Mazeo Bennett Jr. being listed as questionable.
Florida Gymnastics dismisses three members
The gymnastics world was a buzz on Wednesday as it was confirmed that Florida has removed three members of their roster ahead of the 2027 season. Head coach Jenny Rowland confirmed that Skylar Draser, Ly Bui, and Lily Bruce have been removed.
In a statement, Rowland said, “We wish them well moving forward. Our focus remains on supporting our athletes and maintaining a team culture built on accountability, respect and commitment.”
While there are some rumors floating around speculating the reason, nothing has been confirmed at this time as to why the trio is no longer with the team. Draser is the most notable of the group and was in the starting rotation last season.
Gator Basketball releases TV schedule
The SEC released the TV schedule for men’s basketball for the 2027 season. Timeslot-wise, there is nothing too crazy outside of a 9 PM home game on a Wednesday against Ole Miss.
The most notable part of Florida’s SEC schedule, which had been previously known, is that the Gators will only play Kentucky once this season. For whatever reason, the powers that be swapped out the home-and-home series with the Wildcats for a home-and-home against Texas. Florida will also play Georiga and South Carolina twice this season.
