To celebrate its 100th anniversary, the Associated Press released its All-Time AP All-America First Team. There are some titans of the sport that made this list almost impossible to crack, but getting the nod as QB1 on this list was Florida Gator legend Tim Tebow.
Tebow earned the honor for his 2007 campaign, the year he won the Heisman, and he earned the nod over the 2005 season Texas QB Vince Young put together.
During that 2007 season, Tebow threw for 3,286 yards and 32 touchdowns. But it was his 23 rushing touchdowns, which were the third most in the country in 2007, that made his 2007 season special.
Tebow's Heisman was sandwiched between winning the national title in 2006 and 2008, the latter of which he was the starting QB for.
Soccer faceplants in opener against FSU
If Florida Soccer was hoping to make a big statement in its 2025 opener and prove that this once proud program is ready to take the next step, it failed on Thursday.
The Gators fell to No. 3 FSU 5-0 in the season opener for both.
Florida actually started the first 30 minutes lively, and even though the Gators weren't really generating chances of their own, they were even with the Seminoles as Florida's press was causing FSU issues and keeping them at bay.
But eventually FSU found its way over the top of the press and started winning set pieces near the goal, and that's when the wheels fell off. FSU scored in the 33rd, 39th, and 41st minutes, all off set pieces, to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Goals in the 63rd and 76th minutes made it the final of 5-0.
Shots in the game finished 26-7 in favor of FSU.
Florida will next take the field next Thursday at home against Towson.
