The Associated Press released its annual preseason All-American list Monday, giving out honors to 54 total players, separated into two teams.
Florida Gators center Jake Slaughter was named to the 2025 preseason All-American First Team. He's one of two players to earn the honor this season after being an AP All-American in 2024.
Slaughter has earned plenty of recognition ahead of his fifth collegiate season. In addition to the Associated Press, Slaughter earned a spot on Walter Camp's, ESPN's and CBS's preseason All-American teams.
He was also named to the Rimington award watch list, which is awarded to the nation's best center.
Former Gators take Gold with Team USA at 2025 World Games
Former softball stars Skylar Wallace and Amanda Lorenz participated in the 2025 World Games in Chengdu, China, for Team USA this past week.
They helped the United States clinch its fourth consecutive World Games title Sunday after beating Chinese Taipei 5-0 in the gold medal game.
Wallace hit a Team USA-best three home runs during the five-day tournament, including a two-run shot in the title game. She was in Gainesville from 2022 to 24 after transferring in from Alabama. Wallace earned first-team All-American honors in her final collegiate season.
Lorenz, a Gator from 2016-2019, played right field and DH throughout the tournament, and capped off her excellent week by going 2-for-2 en route to the Gold. It was Lorenz's World Cup title with Team USA.
Lorenz and Wallace play in the recently-formed Athletes Unlimited Softball League (AUSL), playing for the Volts and Bandits, respectively.
Poulter to represent Great Britain/Ireland at Walker Cup
Luke Poulter, entering his redshirt junior season at the University of Florida, was selected to be a part of a 10-player team to represent Great Britain and Ireland at the upcoming Walker Cup.
The Walker Cup is played every other year and is a tournament that has representatives of Great Britain or Ireland face off against golfers from the U.S.
An amateur event that has been around since 1922, Poulter becomes the seventh Gator to participate, and the first to do so for Team GB/I.
Poulter had a breakout season, notching his first collegiate victory in the 2025 Shenkel Invitational, and he earned Third-Team Golfweek All-American honors.
He played a key role in the Gators' 2025 conference title, losing just six of 47 total holes while going 3-0 in match play.
