The current recruiting class for the Florida Gators of 2026 has plenty of work to do to even start to resemble a viable group. Florida did get the commitment of Jamir Perez over the weekend, making him just the 2nd commitment Florida has as of now.
Florida's other commitment, Will Griffin, has been locked in with the Gators for quite some time, and the QB from Tampa Jesuit has had himself quite the week.
It started with Griffin going 23-of-37 for 300 yards and two touchdowns n his spring game against perennial power Lakeland High as Jesuit won 30-17.
On Tuesday, He found out that he was invited to the prestigious Elite 11 Camp, an annual QB showcase with top-rated QBs from around the country. DJ Lagway, for example, also took part in the camp, entering his senior year of high school.
Kendra Falby and Taylor Shumaker earn Softball America honors
As the Gators get ready to take on Georgia in Super Regionals with a berth in the Women's College World Series on the line, two of Florida's brightest stars earned national honors on Tuesday.
Kendra Falby was named the Softball America Defender of the Year, and Taylor Shumaker was named Freshman of the Year.
Flaby has been a walking highlight reel all season in center field, robbing multiple home runs and seemingly catching everything that was hit in her direction.
Shumaker is hitting .387 with 21 home runs and 83 RBIs in 60 games played.
Track and Field earns All-Conference honors
The SEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships were over the weekend. The women finished third in the meet and had three members named to the All-Sec First-Team.
Anthaya Charlton won the long jump with a leap of 6.47m (21 2.75"), Habiba Harris won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 12.75 seconds, and Alida van Daalen won discus with a throw of 65.24m (214' 0").
Overall, between the men and women, the Gators had ten athletes named to either the first, second, or third team.
