It’s actually been a hot minute since Florida was forced to play in a noon kickoff game, but the Gators are looking at back-to-back weeks with an early kickoff. This week’s game against South Carolina is slated to kick off at 12:45 PM, and it was just announced that Florida’s trip to Texas next week is going to kick off at 12 PM.
Now, before someone starts a conspiracy that it’s all because Florida lost this weekend, both of these games were always designated for an early kickoff window. Coincidentally enough, the last 12 PM kickoff the Gators had was their trip to Austin two years ago when they were smashed by Texas.
Noon kickoffs haven’t been kind to Florida in recent years, as the Gators have lost four games in a row that started at 12 PM. Florida will have one more early kickoff later this season when it hosts Vanderbilt on November 21.
Florida Volleyball makes a massive statement over the weekend
Don’t look now, but Florida Volleyball has officially announced itself as a national threat for the 2026 season. The Gators are 12-1 and on a 10-game winning streak after beating No. 11 Tennessee and No. 3 Kentucky back-to-back this weekend.
Sunday’s win over the Wildcats was a five-set thriller that snapped a 29-game SEC win streak Kentucky had. The key for Florida was on the defensive side, as Selena Leban had 21 digs and Logan King had seven blocks.
In the final set, Kentucky jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Florida put the clamps down with a 10-2 run en route to winning the set 15-8.
Kamryn Chaney’s 22 kills off a .250 hitting percentage led the attack for Florida.
The Gators are off to their best start since 2017.
Soccer loses to LSU
Florida Soccer couldn’t quite keep its momentum on Friday as it lost to LSU 2-1. Zoe Main opened the scoring for the Gators in the 22nd minute, but LSU got one back in the 30th minute. The match-winning goal came in the 52nd minute.
As has been the case with the Gators a lot this year, their attack did put pressure on the Tigers, and Florida outshot LSU 18-6, with shots on goal being 8-3. Florida also had 10 corner kicks to LSU’s three.
Florida is now 5-4-3 overall and 1-2-2 in SEC play. They are currently in 12th place in the SEC.
