As Florida Softball gets ready to navigate the NCAA Tournament this weekend in hopes of advancing to the Super Regionals, star player Kendra Falby was named as a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 10 finalist.
Falby's production at the plate by itself could earn her the honor as she hit .439 this season and reached base in 55 of Florida's 57 games this season.
But her play in center field this season has been next level and after winning the Gold Glove last year, she has seemed to take it up a notch. Flaby has robbed multiple home runs this season and has made numerous diving catches.
Florida begins the Gainesville Regional on Friday against Mercer.
Lacrosse Off To Final Four
The Lacrosse team is off to the Final Four, proving once again that Florida is in fact an "Everything School."
The Gators hosted Duke and shot out to a 9-2 lead at halftime after a goal from Frannie Hahn.
But as has been the case all season, Florida has a way of making their games dramatic and Duke mounted a slow and steady comeback. It was still 11-5 heading into the 4th quarter, but that is when Florida's offense went ice cold and didn't score for the entire 4th quarter.
Duke kept chipping away and got within 11-9 with possesion with under a minute to play. That's when Georgia Hoey had the save of the game to seal it for Florida and send the Gators to Boston.
Florida will take on No. 1 North Carolina in the Final Four. This is Florida's third overall trip to the Final Four.
Golf Wins Regionals
The men's golf team is off to nationals for the 5th straight season after the Gators prevailed in the Bremerton Regional. The No. 8 Gators shot a team score of -28 over the three rounds to beat No. 5 Arizona State by three strokes.
Florida also wound up 28 shots ahead of No. 20 South Carolina, the final team to make the cut and advance to nationals.
Matthew Kress tied for 2nd individually with a -11, one shot off first. Luke Poulter tied for 4th with a -10.
The national championship will begin on May 23 at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
