College GameDay is going to be in town for the Florida vs. Miami game on Saturday and depending on which NHL team you may or may not root for, the guest picker for the game could be a good thing or just another punch in the guy.
Florida Panthers star Matthew Tkachuk was announced as the celebrity guest picker for the festivities.
Tkachuk came to the Panthers after a trade with the Calgary Flames and has gone on to lead the franchise to two straight Stanley Cup titles, the first two in franchise history.
Chief Commercial Officer announced
The UAA has announced that Michael Ceilley will be the Chief Commercial Officer for Florida's athletic department.
Ceilley comes from a lengthy background of working with an array of sports teams and, most recently, worked with the Denver Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche with the goal of streamlining revenue.
In their announcement, Scott Stricklin noted that Ceilley comes with a background of "creating revenue-generating opportunities," so that will be something to keep in mind if prices in Gainesville feel like they go even higher.
Soccer falls to Oklahoma 2-1
The realities of SEC play are taking hold as Gator Soccer has opened conference play 0-2-0 after losing to Oklahoma 2-1.
The irony for Florida is that their play in the first half was far worse than their play in the second half, and yet all the goals scored came in the second half. Florida was outshot 10-2 in the first half, and head coach Samantha Bohon was visibly frustrated during his halftime interview.
Whatever she said at halftime didn't work as Florida gave up a goal less than a minute into the restart. The Gators did tie it after a goal from Skye Barnes, but Oklahoma scored in the 80th minute to take the 2-1 win.
