It has been a whirlwind month for Florida Basketball walk-on Bennett Andersen. After scoring in the SEC Tournament and later in the Sweet 16, eliciting massive reactions from Florida's bench, he went viral last week after an interview with WRUF's Talia Baia and now has his own t-shirt commemorating the moment.
Andersen was awarded a $10,000 scholarship by the restaurant chain Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux as part of their "Walk-On's Scholarship Program."
Walk-On's founder Brandon Landry presented the check, who was a former walk-on himself at LSU.
Cade Kurland is done for the season
Unfortunately for Florida Baseball second baseman Cade Kurland, his 2025 is coming to an end due to a shoulder injury. Kurland originally injured the shoulder against Miami, before trying to return for a handful of games.
Kurland will be getting surgery.
He had a great freshman campaign, hitting .297 with 17 home runs before his numbers dipped in 2024 to .245 with 14 home runs.
His numbers had all shot back up to start 2025, and through 14 games, he was hitting .316 with a .490 on-base percentage and a 1.096 OPS.
Florida has been splitting second base duties between Justin Nadeau and Brendan Lawson in Kurland's absence.
Lacrosse freshman Frannie Hahn honored
Last week, freshman Frannie Hahn scored four goals and eight assists over the course of Florida's two wins. That week earned Hahn Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors.
It's the first time Hahn has won the award, and she joins Clark Hamilton and Gabby Greene as other Gators to win the award this season.
Florida Lacrosse is currently ranked 7th in the country with a 9-2 record. After beating Penn and UC Davis last week, Florida will host San Diego State this Saturday at 10 AM.
The Gators are coming off a Final Four appearance in 2024.
