Florida Football has added an FCS opponent to their 2028 schedule. The Gators announced today they will take on Furman on September 2, 2028. This will be the 10th time the Gators have taken on the Paladins from Greenville, SC. The schools last played in 2011, with Florida winning 54-32.

Astute Gator fans will note that Billy Napier spent his playing days at Furman and led them to the I-AA championship game in 2001.

After opening against a Power Four opponent the past few seasons, Florida will open its 2025 campaign against FCS Long Island University.

Luke Poulter wins individual title

The golf team for Florida continues to rack up honors, and over the weekend, sophomore Luke Poulter won the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, GA.

Poulter birdied the 18th hole to finish the three-round tournament -8, one stroke better than Gator teammate Ian Gilligan.

Florida as a team had a rough second-round, and even though they shot -10 as a team on Sunday to claw back, they finished one stroke back of Utah for first place.

Women's Basketball Still Dancing

The 2024/25 season didn't go great for the women's basketball team. Despite a bit of a run in the SEC Tournament, Florida was 16-17 and was nowhere near the bubble for the NCAA Tournament.

Florida was selected to the WBIT and won their first-round game against Northern Iowa. On Sunday, the Gators took a trip out to Las Vegas to take on UNLV and kept their season alive with a 86-84 win.

Florida went into their final possession down by one and pulled out the win with a three-pointer from Kenza Salgues at the buzzer.

The Gators will now move on to the quarterfinals of the WBIT and will host Texas Tech on Thursday at 6 PM.

Gonzaga, Minnesota, James Madison, Belmont, Vilanova, and Portland are the other six teams in the quarterfinals of the WBIT.
