The Spurrier family just can't seem to stay away from the Florida Gators. Legendary coach Steve Spurrier coached the Gators for 12 seasons before moving on to South Carolina, and his son Steven Spurrier Jr. began his coaching career with the Gators as well under the direction of his father.

Well, Spurrier Jr. is now back with the Gators as an analyst on Billy Napier's staff. Spurrier Jr. will also assist Ryan O'Hara with the quarterbacks, as he was once an offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.

Spurrier Jr. comes back to Florida with a wealth of experience in college football and the NFL. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant under his father, spending four years with the Gators. In 1997, he assumed the role of football video assistant, and in 1998, he was promoted to special teams coach.

Before the 1999 season, Spurrier Jr. made the move to Oklahoma, his first coaching job not working under his father, and was hired as a wide receivers coach under the legendary Bob Stoops. He stuck with the job until 2001 when he made the big move to the NFL.

With the Washington Redskins, Spurrier Jr. was the wide receivers coach for two seasons, against working under his father, Steve Spurrier. In 2004, when Bob Stoops was the head coach at the University of Arizona, Spurrier Jr. followed his old head coach and, this time took the tight ends coaching job.

When his father was in South Carolina, Spurrier Jr. decided to rejoin his family and take a position in South Carolina, a coaching position he stuck with for 10 years. First starting as a wide receiver coach, Spurrier moved his way up the coaching tree to the passing game coordinator, then the recruiting coordinator, and finally the co-offensive coordinator. Spurrier Jr. coached a lot of great players on the offensive during his time with the Gamecocks, such as Doobo Samuel, Alshon Jefferey, Pharoh Cooper, Sidney Rice, and Kenny McKinnley.

In 2016, Spurrier Jr. made his return to Oklahoma under Stoops as an offensive specialist and director of high school recruiting. He spent just one season with the Sooners before moving to Western Kentucky as the assistant head coach/quarterbacks coach for the 2017 season.

From 2018 to 2019, Spurrier Jr. spent time working under another legendary head coach, Mike Leach, at Washington State as the wide receivers coach yet again and played a part in Gardner Minshew's legendary season with the Cougars.

Spurrier Jr. spent three seasons at Mississippi State and then a season with Tulsa before now becoming an analyst for the Gators. It is a homecoming for the longtime coach who shares a name with the legendary coach at Florida, who brought home a National Championship in 1996.
