Former Florida Gator, Kyle Trask has been given another chance and an opportunity to return to the NFL. After being cut from the Carolina Panthers in August, Trask has now been signed by the Dallas Cowboys to their practice squad. The move came after Dallas signed Juanyeh Thomas to the active roster and waived cornerback Caelen Carson.

Trask was drafted by the Tampa Buccaneers out of the University of Florida in 2021 and played his first five seasons just 130 miles south of Gainesville with the Buccaneers. Though with the Buccaneers for five seasons, he played just seven games (one in 2022, two in 2023, and one in 2024). He did not play in any games in 2025 after losing his backup job to Teddy Bridgewater and suffering a shoulder injury before released by Tampa Bay in August 2025.
Throughout the course of his tenure with Tampa Bay, the former Gator was 4-for-11 in completions, throwing for just 28 total yards. On the ground he struggled going for six carries, and -5 yardage.
It’s been no easy road for Trask. Since being released by the Bucs in 2025, he was signed during the course of the last year to the Atlanta Falcons practice squad, Carolina Panthers, and now the Cowboys’ practice squad. Trask will hope this newest chance at making it in the NFL comes to fruition for the 28-year old.
