This season, Florida Football got to see a number of former players on opposing sidelines. Princely Umanmielen, Jalen Farmer, Richie Leonard, Trent Whittemore, Creed Whittemore, and Trevor Etienne were among the one-time Gators that Florida faced in 2024.

That theme is building once against for 2025 as Jack Pyburn has finalized his departure from Gainesville to an SEC rival.

Florida Football: We meet again

Pyburn was one of the unexpected entrants into the transfer portal from Florida this offseason. He was a starter by the end of the season and if there was anyone who felt like they bled Orange and Blue it was Pyburn.

He famously stated prior to the Georgia game that:

"I can tell you for me it means everything. Since I've been growing up, there is not a Georgia/Florida game that I can't remember not going to. I've been to every single game since I remember what Florida/Georgia is. Growing up in that environment and really truly knowing what this game is like; it makes or breaks some people's year for them."

Then, a report of his demands made the rounds of the internet, and fans were quick to turn on Pyburn. Based upon the report from On3, Pyburn wanted a guaranteed $45,000 a month and guarantees of playing time in 2025.

Pyburn disputed those reports on social media, but it didn't stop his portal process from moving forward.

Texas A&M was in the mix for his services, but it was announced today that Pyburn will be transferring to LSU for his final season of college football.

Pyburn leaves Gainesville with just one career sack, but he was an asset in the run game. He will get the chance early in 2025 to prove whether or not he made the right choice, as Florida will travel to LSU during week three of the 2025 season.
