There hasn't always been a lot to celebrate in Gainesville over the past three seasons as Florida Football has been 16-19 in the Billy Napier Era. As a result, opposing teams have had plenty of chances to get their shots in on the Gators.
So it is nice on nights like last night when Gator fans are finally able to do some trolling back and Florida's social media team seized on the moment following the 27-16 win over LSU.
Florida Football: Won't Back Down
The X feed for Florida didn't hold back as the clock hit zero in Gainesville. Their first post was a GIF of LSU head coach Brian Kelly banging a table following their opening season loss to Southern Cal. Kelly was frustrated following that loss and Florida just wanted to make sure their property in The Swamp was protected.
Florida also had to give a shoutout to LSU's mascot Mike the Tiger, who has had better seasons than what LSU is going through at the moment.
But the finest work from the social media team came from a speech Kelly had given LSU in preparation of playing Florida, referencing how he wanted to be singing "I Won't Back Down."
"To me this is where you start thinking about ‘I’m going to remember that song because I’m going to sing that song in the fourth quarter. I’m going to remember that, because that’s my confidence level, because going into the fourth quarter we’re going to have this team. So I’m going to be thinking in terms of I want to know the words to that song."Brian Kelly
With an overlay of the Tom Petty song, Florida posted highlights from the game.
