We wrote earlier today that Florida Football was in need of some late momentum in order to close the gap on the class of 2025. With Early Signing Day next week, the Gators are still trying to play catchup from a slow summer and a disastrous September.

Florida continued their momentum towards trying to get a top ten class as Billy Napier and crew just flipped a four-star EDGE from Penn State.

Florida Football: Range Rover

Jayden Woods is an interesting case study. The 6'3" and 240-pound EDGE out of Kansas was barely on the public radar for Florida this year. Woods committed to Penn State back in June, and Florida was not among the official visits he took during the summer.

However, Woods was in town for the win over LSU and made an official visit that weekend. Today, he officially announced that he was flipping his commitment from Penn State to Florida.

He is a consensus four-star with 247 having him as high as 75th overall and ESPN having him the lowest at 252nd. On film, he comes across as a rangy EDGE with speed to burn even though he is 240 pounds. He is not afraid to travel long distances to get the QB, but he also has the integrity to hold the edge, something some past EDGE rushers have struggled to do.

He also boasts a throw in the discus of over 170 feet and a mark in shot put over 50 feet, both of which are excellent marks for anyone.

But despite the shot put mark that would indicate Woods does have some power to him, we would probably agree most with the Rivals ranking that has him 187th. On film, Woods never really feels like he overpowers anyone and we would like to see more than just a speed rush around the outside.

But the only other EDGE Florida has verbally committed heading into signing day is Jalen Wiggins, who took a visit to Notre Dame this month. Woods is a worthwhile pickup of a player we don't envision playing right away but who could make an impact down the road if he picks up an extra move or two.

Florida is now ranked 15th in the 247 team rankings.
