One of themes for Florida Football for their class of 2025 was how slow out of the gate they were. Part of that was due to their 5-7 record in 2023 and the uncertainty of Billy Napier.
After finishing 2024 with a four-game winning streak, the Gators are trying to carry that momentum into their class of 2026 and got good news as they are still in the running for a top-150 prospect.
Florida Football: Size And Speed
Heze Kent, a 6-foot-6, 245-pound four-star athlete from Brunswick, Georgia, has narrowed his college choices to five schools: Florida, Florida State, Miami, Texas, and Alabama. Ranked as the No. 118 overall prospect in the 2026 class and the No. 6 athlete nationally, Kent is one of Georgia’s most coveted recruits.
Florida, Florida State, and Miami have long pursued Kent, with each making his top 10 list last June. He visited all three during the fall and returned to Florida in December.
A junior standout, Kent showcased his versatility for Brunswick High School. He rushed for 211 yards and eight touchdowns on 32 carries while adding 41 receptions for 983 yards and eight more scores. With over 1,100 all-purpose yards, Kent helped lead Brunswick to a 10-2 season and a second-round berth in the Georgia 5A state playoffs.
The On3 RPM model does have Florida in the lead for Kent, though no formal projections have been logged at this time for his commitment.

The Gators currently have three verbal commits for their class of 2026: Will Griffin, Jalen Waters, and Devin Jackson. Griffin, the QB out of Tampa Jesuit, has stated he doesn't plan to take anymore visits and was on campus last weekend as part of Florida's Junior Day. Waters, the defensive back out of Armwood High, has been a flip candidate for Miami.
