One of the great what-if moments for Florida Football in 2024 is whether the Gators would have hung on to beat Georgia had DJ Lagway not gotten hurt. Part of what had the Gators tied with Georgia late into the 4th quarter was their ability to shut down Carson Beck.

Last week, Beck declared for the NFL Draft even though he has one year of eligibility left. After presumably not getting the feedback he needed to hear, Beck is now in the transfer portal, and the early favorite to land him is on Florida's 2025 schedule.

Pete Thamel of ESPN is reporting that Miami is the early favorite to land Beck for the 2025 season. The Hurricanes need to replace Cam Ward, and the performance of Emory Williams in the Pop-Tarts Bowl didn't exactly leave anyone shaking in their boots.

Florida plays Miami in 2025 on September 20, the fourth game of the season for both teams.

Beck had a solid game against Florida in 2023, but the Gators shut him down this season and still nearly won even after Lagway went down. Beck was 25/40 passing for 309 yards and two touchdowns, but he had three interceptions, an ADOT of just 7.9 yards, and his time to throw of 2.53 seconds was his fourth longest of the season.

Beck was hurt in the SEC Championship game against Texas and didn't play in the playoffs against Notre Dame.

On3 reports that Ohio State and Texas Tech are also in the early running for Beck, in addition to Miami.
