Florida Football makes slight change to 2025 schedule
The 2025 schedule for Florida Football is almost identical to the one they have had in 2024. Ten of their twelve opponents from 2024 will be seen again in 2025, with just the home sites swapped in each game.
The only two opponents the Gators won't see in 2025 they saw this season are UCF and Samford. The University of Central Florida Golden Knight of Orlando by way of Medieval Times Dinner Theater, will be swapped out with the Fighting Alex Golesh's, otherwise known as USF.
Samford will be swapped out for a different FCS opponent, just not the one that was originally planned.
Florida Football: On the rocks
As first reported by Swamp247 and confirmed by Gators Online, Florida will no longer be playing FAMU in 2025. The Gators were slated to play the Rattlers on October 11, 2025, but that also meant that Florida didn't have an official game lined up for the opening weekend of the college football season.
Well now Florida does as the Gators will play Long Island University-Brooklyn on August 31.
LIU is not an opponent the Gators see in almost any sport. Their football team just gained FCS status in 2019 and went 4-8 in 2024. Basketball has only played LIU once, and that was in 1998. Softball is 4-0 all-time against LIU but hasn't played them since 2012. According to baseball archives, the two teams have never met.
The dates for all of Florida's non-conference games are set heading into the 2025 season, while the SEC dates have yet to be determined. Florida will play USF at home on September 6, Miami on the road on September 20, and FSU at home on November 29.
The Gators close out the 2024 regular season this weekend on the road in Tallahassee against FSU.
