Like most programs in America, Florida Football is no stranger to having players flip their commitment to the Gators. Over the past couple of years the Gators have seen players flip their commitment to Florida in under two months.

But we may have a new record for a speed run commitment, as a player who committed to the Gators on Sunday has flipped to Georgia in just 42 hours.

Florida Football: Thanks for coming

Around 8 PM on Sunday, word came out that Adrian Maddox had committed to Florida out of UAB. As we wrote yesterday, Maddox was a solid coverage safety for the Blazers in 2024. We said he is also a heat-seeking missile who hits hard but does have a tendency to whiff on some tackles.

But Maddox never formally signed with the Gators, and word started to leak that Georgia wasn't giving up their pursuit of Maddox. Sure enough, 42 hours after the commitment post to Florida, another commitment graphic was posted on X with news that Maddox is off to Georgia.

Maddox originally spent two years at Alabama State before transferring to UAB last season. If he does actually wind up in Athens and doesn't flip again 42 hours from now, he will have one season of eligibility for Georgia.

As it stands, Florida has gained four commitments out of the transfer portal:

  • J.Michael Sturdivant
  • Deshawn Purdie
  • Kofi Asare
  • Tommy Doman
