Florida Football gets featured as a clue on Jeopardy
Most of the time, when Florida Football winds up in national headlines, it’s either due to a soul-crushing loss or due to something bad happening with the program.
So, at least for one night, the Gators got to be shed in a positive light as Florida was featured as a question on the game show Jeopardy.
Florida Football: Answer
It wasn’t the most difficult clue in the world, and even someone is not a hardcore college football fan could have figured out, but contestants were asked the following in the “Catch-22” category for $1200:
“In 1970 Willie Jackson Sr. wore 22 as the first black player in a game for this U.’s football Gators; His grandson now wears it there”
Willie Jackson Sr. signed with the Gators in 1968 alongside Leonard George. Jackson made his debut in 1970 against Duke. He went on to catch 75 passes for 1,170 yards and eight touchdowns.
His son Willie Jackson Jr. played for Florida from 1990 to 1993 and had 162 receptions for 2,172 yards and 24 touchdowns.
Kahleil Jackson is currently on Florida’s roster. He had 21 catches last season but has been injured for the bulk of this season.
