A key target for Billy Napier and the Gators has officially named his top three schools and set a date for commitment.
Already holding the 10th best 2026 recruiting class, according to On3 Sports, this recruit could vault the Gators into Top 5 consideration.
Five-Star Tight End Kaiden Prothro Sets Commitment Date
Prothro will make his decision between Florida, Georgia and Texas on July 12. Landing a pledge from Prothro would be a major recruiting victory, not only for adding a second five-star to the 2026 class, but to deny other SEC schools the consensus top-50 recruit.

At 6-foot-6, 210 pounds, Prothro is a modern tight end with impressive athleticism. Here's what we said back in February about the Bowdon, Georgia, native:
"Even though he is being recruited as a tight end, his film has him lined up almost exclusively on the outside. As a pure receiver, his catch radius is massive, and even though he is 6'6" and 210 pounds, he can still run a go route downfield and take the top off the defense. He has such a long stride that looks effortless.
We're not saying he is the next Kyle Pitts just yet, but there is a ton to like that could make him a matchup nightmare in the SEC."
Prothro had an official visit in Gainesville earlier this June, the same weekend 2026 QB commit Will Griffin was in town.
As it stands right now, Georgia is considered the heavy favorite to land Prothro.
Florida has seen its class of 2026 skyrocket in recent weeks. After sitting with just one commitment back in the middle of May, the Gators currently have 13 verbal commits and have predictions logged to land more. Prothro is a top-three tight end in the country and would continue to boost the Gators up the rankings if they can pull the upset, which currently sits at 15th in the 247 Team Rankings.
