With Florida off this weekend, for its bye week ahead of its annual matchup with Georgia, Florida fans will have plenty of opportunities to check out other SEC games.
This is our Week 8 SEC watch guide, from games you can skip to the must-see matchups.
Week 8 SEC watch guide for Florida fans
6. Texas A&M at No. 13 Alabama — 3:30 PM | ABC | Alabama -13.5
The reality is that these are two brands that Florida fans have no other attachment to, combined with the fact that this could be the biggest blowout of the afternoon. If this game gets close, then it might be worth tuning into to see the meltdown by Alabama fans, but otherwise there should be better options.
5. No. 18 LSU at Auburn — 12:00 PM | ABC | LSU -7
Just like above, Florida has already played Auburn, and the Gators don’t play LSU this year. The seven point spread feels sneaky because on paper it would seem like LSU should cover that with ease. Also, like above, this could be a good Lane Kiffin hate watch, but only if it is close.
4. Vanderbilt at No. 12 Kentucky — 7:30 PM | SEC Network | Kentucky -10.5
The fact that we don’t have this game dead last either means we have gone insane or we are intrigued by the idea that this spread isn’t 20+ points. Throw in that Florida does play both of these teams later in the season, and it is worth taking a peek at.
3. Oklahoma at Mississippi State — 3:30 PM | SEC Network | Oklahoma -3
The three-point spread hints this one could come down to the wire. And Florida does play Oklahoma right after Georgia, so there is plenty of merrit in watching this one. Having said that, don’t be shocked if this turns into a rock fight and the winner is the first to 20 points.
2. No. 11 Tennessee at South Carolina — 3:30 PM | ESPN | South Carolina -2.5
What does Vegas know that we don’t? Mind you, this is the same Vegas that thought Florida would steamroll South Carolina and end the Shane Beamer Era, and yet here we are. In a weird way, it would do Florida fans good to see South Carolina win this one to ease some of the sting of the blowout loss.
1. No. 7 Ole Miss at No. 19 Texas — 7:30 PM | ABC | Texas -3.5
We can debate back and forth some of the other games, but it is clear which game stands alone as the must watch SEC game of Week 8. Florida has knocked off both of these teams, and it would probably do the Gators the most good if Texas were to win this one.
