Typically, by the end of April, there are not too many hidden gems to uncover in recruiting for that year's rising class of seniors. Between film and camps, the main prospects that all the heavy hitters are going to fight over are well known.

But for whatever reason, there are some who tend to slip through the cracks, and Florida has entered the race for a 2027 EDGE that isn’t going to stay hidden much longer.

Florida offered JiQuan Rodgers

JiQuan Rodgers is an EDGE from Birmingham, AL. Listed at 6’3” and 220 pounds, he is unrated by all three major services.

But based on his film, we suspect it isn’t going to stay that way once updates are made to the database over the summer. Rodgers has a burst that falls in line with any of the other prospects that Florida is taking a serious look at. He can beat you with a swim move inside, a speed rush to the outside, or just hold the edge as needed and let the play come to him. He may not have the raw power to straight-bulldoze someone, but he is able to shed blocks and use his wingspan to prevent opposing linemen from locking him up.

Rodgers is a tick smaller than most of the EDGE prospects who wind up as a four or five star, but his production is solid enough that we wouldn’t be shocked to see him as a high three-star who is knocking on the door of four.

The recruitment for Rodgers is just now starting to pick up steam. Florida offered Rodgers this week and joins a quickly growing list of Clemson, FSU, and Vanderbilt, who have all offered Rodgers in the last two weeks. As of now, he has official visits lined up with Clemson, Vanderbilt, and Colorado, and we would imagine Florida is going to push to get him on campus.

Rodgers may be unrated for now, but we suspect that isn’t going to stay the case.
