Since getting hired by the Gators, new offensive line coach Phil Trautwein has wasted zero time pursuing the top-rated offensive lineman for the class of 2027. During the Billy Napier Era, Florida seemed content going after mid-tier three star propspect, so it has been refreshing to see this switch almost overnight.

We’ll still see if Trautwein and the Gators actually land these players, but Florida does have one of the top-rated offensive tackles lined up for a visit in January.

Kennedy Brown to visit Florida

Kennedy Brown told Rivals on Monday that he is slated to take a visit to Florida in January. Brown is listed at 6’4” and 285 pounds and is the 4th-ranked overall player in the 247 Sports Composite rankings. ESPN has Brown listed as the No. 1 overall player in the country.

Brown is actually one of the smaller offensive tackles in the country among the five and four-star guys, but on film on would never know it. While he tends to get a bit high at times, his raw power enables him to drive guys away with ease. And even though he is shorter compared to his contemporaries, Brown has also been noted by 247 for his “monstrous length.”

Florida originally offered Brown last April, but haven’t felt in the running for the Texas native. He took unofficial visits to Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Clemson during the 2025 season, but none to Florida. Trautwein also offered Brown while at Penn State last February, so this is a player that Trautwein has been trying to recruit for a while now.

Florida won’t be the only visit Brown takes, as he will also check out Texas A&M and Oregon, which would be two schools to beat if a bidding war ensued.

But it is nice for a change to even be talking about five stars in Gainesville rather than three.
