Five minutes into Saturday's contest, the seeds were planted for another long night for Florida Basketball. The Gators were struggling with Texas A&M's size and gave up offensive rebounds, while the Aggies were hitting some tough shots early.

But as we have also seen through the 2024/25 campaign, as quickly as the Gators can fall behind they have ability to flip a switch and go on runs to steal the soul of an opponent. But the time Saturday night was over, Florida emerged with an easy 89-70 beatdown of Texas A&M.

Florida Basketball: Back On Track

The Aggies led 16-10 six minutes into the game. The Gators caught them to tie it at 19-19 two minutes later and the Aggies never led again. When Will Richard hit a three-pointer with 15 seconds to play in the half, Florida had exploded the lead to 14 points.

In true Florida fashion, that didn't mean everything was smooth sailing. After another Richard three in the second half ballooned the lead to 17, Texas A&M chipped away and found themselves within six points and the ball with nine minutes to play.

But the three-pointers kept falling for Florida as Richard made six of them on the night en route to a 25 points night. Alijah Martin made four from deep and Florida once again had five players score at least ten points.

Alex Condon had nine rebounds and three blocks to go with his ten points in just 23 minutes of action.

The win gives Florida another Quad One victory and has them in a tie for second with Alabama in the SEC. With two games to play in the regular season, Florida has a two-game lead on Missouri for a double-bye in the SEC tournament.

But with Alabama and Ole Miss to close out the regular season, the bigger goal for the Gators is to close out in their quest for a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament. Florida is currently 4th in NET ahead of Tennessee and Alabama.
