It is becoming quite clear that Kevin O’Sullivan and the Gator Baseball had a vision when it hired Todd Butler from Oklahoma, the 2026 national champions, to join the staff. On Thursday it was reported by Nick Marcinko of Gator Country that they have secured another 2026 prospect, and this one was a flip. Per Marcinko, Florida has flipped 2026 outfield prospect Braylen Montgomery from Oklahoma, who he committed to about a year ago.

Montgomery, 6’3”, 217lbs out of Walker High School in Louisiana is ranked as the No. 1 outfielder in Louisiana and the No. 91 overall prospect in the 2026 class.

Per Perfect Game he is ranked the No. 3 prospect in Oklahoma. He is also ranked in the MLB draft rankings as the No. 231 draft prospect.

While his senior stats don’t appear to be listed, GeauxPreps.com notes that he hit .424, with 29 RBIs and 19 stolen bases in his junior year. Prior to that in 2025 he hit .373 with seven home runs, 38 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases.

Prep Baseball calls Montgomery a player who has an athletic swing and good whip through the strike zone. He is fast on his feet once he’s on the base pads and consistently puts the barrel on the ball. His power has touched 107 mph and once he’s on the base paths his speed shines through as well.

When Montgomery committed to Oklahoma, Todd Butler was the assistant coach, however it was announced in June that he was hired as an assistant coach under Sullivan at Florida and Montgomery is the second player under Butler’s recruitment to follow him to Gainesville. He follows Drew Dickerson who committed to Florida earlier this week.

The Gators now have 14 recruits for the 2026 class, 10 of which are high schoolers and they also added nine players from the transfer portal to the roster too.

Florida Baseball is a on a roll with recruitment and is reminding everyone that even coming off a down season, O'Sullivan is still going to get talent to show up on campus.
